William Claud Turnbull, 85 years of age, and a resident of Florence Township, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Firelands Hospital following a long and full life.
Claud was born June 6, 1938, in Oberlin, Ohio and graduated from Oberlin High School. Florence Township has been his home since 1965.
As a youngman Claud worked alongside his dad as an operator for Turnbull Trucking and Excavating. He worked for Clark Brothers Excavating of Oberlin and Clem Rice Excavating of Amherst. He loved road trips and enjoyed the occasional trip to Amish country to visit friends. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #380.
Survivors include his sons, William ‘Bill’ Turnbull (Iva) and Glenn Turnbull (Robin) all of Wakeman; his grandson, Aaron Turnbull; and his sisters, Erma Schultz (Jim) of Oberlin and Elma King (Joe) of Vermilion.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and wife of fifty-nine years, Glenda Marie Turnbull (nee: Berkmeyer) in 2018; and his parents, William and Mildred Turnbull (nee: Neiding).
Friends may call Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. with a masonic service to be held at 7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com .
Graveside services will be held, March 27, 2024 at 11 am at Birmingham Cemetery.
