MaryAnn Sterna Obituary

MaryAnn Sterna (nee:  Marozsan), 90 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away  Monday, March 25, 2024 at her home, following a full and meaningful life.

She was born May 30, 1933 in Elyria were she was raised, graduating from Elyria High School.  Amherst has been her home for all of her adult life. 

Mary was employed as an LPN at Elyria Memorial Hospital for over twenty years and was a member of ALANON. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst.  Mary was an active supporter of the church where she taught Sunday School and attended the Ladies Bible study. She was a former member of The Hungarian Reformed Church of Elyria.  Mary loved being outdoors, bird watching and tending to her garden. Her greatest joy was that of taking care of her family and creating a loving and caring environment in her home. 

Survivors include her daughters, Laura L. Lombardo (Guy) of Marengo, Ohio and Shelly A. Hill (Thomas) of Vermilion; four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; her brother, John Marozsan of Grafton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Robert R. Sterna on April 24, 2013; her siblings, Peter Marozsan and Yolanda Lottman; and her parents Peter and Yolanda Marozsan (nee: Vargo).

Services were held privately by the family.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Peter United Church of Christ, 582 Church Street, Amherst, OH 44001 the Amherst Office on Aging, 621 Cleveland Ave, Amherst, OH 44001, Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
